I have noticed ejected cases having a light surface indication ( brush marks ? ) at two locations across the face of the case base 180 deg apart. Is this a swipe ? What needs to be done to eliminate this or is it ok as is? All shells eject out to 2 o'clock and approx 6 ft clear. Any help would be appreciated.

What load are you shooting in your rifle? What type of rifle do you have?

Ejector/extractor marks on brass are not always pressure signs, but having more detail would help...

cresent shaped scrape marks are swipes, it could be from early opening or high pressure or a combination of the 2, could be from a new bolt too.
Higher pressure can be from excess oil in the bore, run a dry patch through several times to remove the excess.

I'm running a DD 5.56 16" shooting M193AF. Weapon is cleaned lubed and completly wiped down both inside and out. No resid oil in the bore.
I was wondering IF a stronger ejector spring is needed but then as I stated the empties eject consistantly/repeatibly.

Try posting some pics in the "General" forum. More people are likely to read it and offer assistance than in a vendor area.

M193 says it all, the mil spec M193 and 855 loads show swipes in almost every rifle I have shot since the early 90s. A heavier buffer and buffer spring may tame it a little, other than that I would just shoot it.

Thx to all, I'll keep an eye out on it and see IF will behave itself.

Does the M193 have the corresponding velocity increase?

Yes, mil spec ammo runs at 58,000 psi in the 5.56 chamber, M193 pushes a 55gr fmj to 3150fps from a 20" barrel.
