338 RCM
The DPMS based uppers will start at $999 with a vented float tube, that includes a high quality lapped and air-gauged stainless barrel, rifles start at $1549.
Vtacs are on the way and will be an add for difference of cost. Magnum calibers add $100.

Uppers with Shilen or Pac Nor barrels start at $1225
Uppers with Krieger, Bartlein, Hart, Broughton barrels start at $1299

Armalite uppers standard with Armalites alum free float tube start at $1159, complete rifles $1699. Magnum calibers add $100.

ETA- we have added the 6.5x47 and 6x47 lapua to the list- looks like some highpower guys are interested in the ITS 12 with a 6.5x47 chamber.

Harrison,

Will barrels alone be available in 7mm-08 and .260 for the AR-10?

Kerry

Kerry,
We will offer barrels only, just need to get them in here so I can test. Hopefully the guys making the 6.8 barrels for me can also provide the different calibers, we may not get as good of a price since we aren't commiting to 1000 barrels a year in ea cal. so we'll just need to see how it goes.
My goal is to find accuracy with these house barrels without having to pay the price of a Krieger.
IMO for hunting and casual range duty a consistant 1MOA is good enough, those that want to compete or hit a p dog at 600yds may have to step up to a premium match barrel.

Good deal R. she will ship tomorrow.

We have ordered parts to start building, it will take a few weeks for everything to arrive.
For a hunting rig I really don't think a premium match barrel is needed, I will run a few test on typical barrels used for bolt guns to see what the accuracy is like.

thoughts on 300 RCM?

constructor
06-10-2010, 11:26 PM
The 300RSAUM is more popular so probably not unless we start having feeding problems.
The WSM is more popular than the RSAUM but I know they don't feed well in a AR

Any chance for a 6.5x47 upper?

I would just need to buy a reamer.

Once I have my 6mm BRX upper together and shooting well, that might make a nice second project. Better brass with the 6.5x47 than the .260 Rem.

You have my interest. I was going to do a .338 Federal but if you are selling barrels and bolts, I would rather do the .338 RCM. After three LR-308s, I'll finally have one that won't be a wildcat. Everyone needs a factory standard caliber LR-308 don't they?

How many rounds do you expect to feed from the mag? I just finished up a .358 HDH (WSSM) and it feeds fine with up to 5 rounds in the mag on the LR-308 platform. More than 5 though and things go south in a hurry. The WSSM case actually works better in the AR-15 mag so if I could find an adapter to use an AR-15 mag in the LR-308 I'd be in hog heaven. Still, for a hunting gun, five is four more than I've had available in my Contenders and Encores.
When DPMS did the .300 RSAUM in the LR-308 they only offered 5 round mags IIRC.

The most I have tried is 10 in a 20 rnd Pmag, it worked fine. The RCM cases being slightly smaller than a RSAUM helps.

That does indeed sound good. The .358 HDH (WSSM) in the P-Mag is a miserable failure. The mag swells so much even with just three rounds in it the P-mag cannot be inserted unless you pound it in and in which case the mag usually dumps its load, and if you get it in without it dumping it is terribly hard to remove unless you run it dry.
I'll have to keep tabs on your progress with this so I can get a barrel and bolt from you when they are available. In the mean time I guess I had better get another upper/carrier and other essentials.
Do you have any kind of ETA on when these will be available?

constructor

I just need to pick up some 338 tubes, a hunting grade CM barrel is easy, we could have it nitro carburized if it goes in with another batch.
I'll check around to see what I can find available.

Uppers with Shilen or Pac Nor barrels start at $1225

So a DPMS 7mm-08 18" Shilen, lightweight profile with a PRi Gen III 15" Free Float Carbon Fiber Forearm NAT (http://www.pri-mounts.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=PRI&Product_Code=05-073-15&Category_Code=FOREARMS) would be around $1550?

Maybe a little cheaper by the time we deduct for the other rail.

Any word on the SCAR-H ETA? I'm trying to decide whether to go forward with the .308 AR lower I have or just send the $ for the SCAR. I figure with the upper, trigger group, mount & glass, it will be a wash.

We heard late June but you know how that goes.
I also heard that now it has been approved the mil contracts are first on the production list.

That doesn't sound good. :a33: Although, I'm leaning toward the SCAR since I have so many ARs. Vareity is the spice of life and all..... the .308 lower isn't going anywhere....

They probably just hate competition, I was surprised how quickly I got my lower from them.
