Thanks, but, I'm in the same boat as you. Don't have a 6.8 yet, haven't even pulled the trigger on a 6.8 yet. Only been here for a week. I find that (for me)... the deeper I go digging, the more my initial impressions of what I want to buy is getting morphed.
i hear ya on what your final picture of what you want it to be getting changed. i started with idea of making a paper puncher/plate smacker, and now i want a carbine to shoot with.
as far as pullin the trigger, i have wanted to get my lower from spikes but talking to a local shop they tell me to wait because of there lowers not being engraved as deep as they usually are due to the laser eching that they are doing. they are in the middle of changing it back to the way it was. i should be getting it in a week or so, then the fun begins

While you're snooping around at forged lowers... check out surplusammoandarms.com and look at the Aero Precision lower and the DPMS lower kit... great price on that combo. The lower is a very nice piece. A buddy of mine just snagged up that combo. It went together very nicely for him.
i think iv just read that thread last night haha. i will have to check into aero. my buddy was telling me about the dpms lpk being a good buy.

Grip screw maybe and an optic and/or irons. Also a bullet button if that's not in your LPK (damn California).
Other than that, just your stripped lower and complete upper. I don't know if you've built an AR before but basically for the lower it's going to be whatever you can find locally unless you want to blow a bunch of money on the out of state transfer fees. Honestly I'd buy the upper first and then buy a lower that fits well to your upper.
Where about in CA are you if you don't mind me asking? I'm in Sacramento.
ya i havent purchased a bullet button( im with you on that one). i do plan on buying back up sights, just havent decided if on which ones i want. as for an optic, iv got my eye on an aimpoint ML3.
im located in fairfield, not to far from sac town.
