As the title says, why pick the 6.8 over the other two? Was there a compelling reason most of you chose the 6.8.
Looking for things like ammo availability, feeding issues, recoil, and cost. Were all these considered, and if so, what were the pro's and con's?
Thanks ahead for the info.
Edit: BOTH the 243 and 25 I am referring to the WSSM versions

Only one place to get the WSSM in a AR, I had both , now have a 6.5 and .338 ARSM wildcat, accuracy was not what I thought it should be in the original 2.
6.8 fits the AR15 platform and can be had in a 6lb rifle, besides I think Holland was doing the right thing for the right reason.

Who's Holland? Do you mean the country? I'm not familiar with this. Can you expound a bit for me? My last bit of research brought up at least three sources for the WSSM's none were what I'd call cheap, but Dtech's seemed the most affordable.
What was your accuracy like?

Major Steve Holland 5th group started the search for a better combat caliber and development for the 6.8.
Oly makes all of the bolts, barrel extensions and receivers, sells some to Dtech.
I purchased a .243 and 25 wssm from Oly, the groups with good hand loads were 1 1/2-2".
I ditched both of those and used the carriers, bolts and extensions only to build a 6.5 and 338 with slick side DPMS receivers and Pac Nor match barrels, the groups with those run right at 1"
They are just big cases with a lot of recoil which I believe makes the receivers flex.

OK I see now, how the marketing is going. Explains the long wait times too.
Your theory of flex does seem reasonable as well. The extra power would be nice, but it may be more than the AR15 receiver can really handle, in that aspect anyway.

my 6.8 is a purpose built pig rifle.
with a 6.8 you can have 25 round magazines. with the wssm's i believe a standard 20 round size .223 mag will hole 10 of the fat wssm rounds.
the 6.8 reaches full potential in 16-18 inch barrels, the wssm's need 22+ inches to reach full potential. wich adds weight and subtracts maneuverability.
now granted the 6.8 is not the long range performer that the wssm's are but i did not need the long range capability as much as i needed short/lightweight for this gun's purpose.
we do alot of full moon pig hunting for population control in all of the farm/ranch land here in central texas. on some of these nights we may walk 3+ miles. my 6.8 is way lighter than any wssm upper would be. plus w/ an 18" barrel it is short and maneuverable. on these nights we may find 4 or 5 groups of pigs which can burn up some ammo. being able to carry 2-25 round mags is way easier than carrying 5-10 round mags. in the full moon we rarely shoot past 100 yards anyways so why carry a big heavy barrelled long range gun when you don't have to.

A big part for my is the availability of parts and ammo and reloading supplies. With SSA ammo and brass are pretty easy to get. It is also pretty easy to find 6.8 specific parts such as rifles, uppers, bolts, barrels and mags. The only other real wildcat I shoot is the 300 Whisper, but that only uses a different barrel. I still use the same bolt, mags and but brass from 223 range pick ups.
